UMBC’s Adam Grossman (Baltimore, Md./Pikesville) and Stony Brook’s Leonora Joy (Auckland, New Zealand/Kiapara College) have been named the Men’s and Women’s Track Performers of the Week, respectively, while Mike Zyvoloski (Elkridge, Md./Long Reach) of UMBC and Binghamton’s Dayna Johnson (Brentwood, N.Y./Brentwood) have been named Men’s and Women’s Field Performers of the Week, respectively. The awards were announced Tuesday (April 26).

Grossman captured three first-place victories at the Mount St. Mary’s Eric Kloiber Metro Invitational on Saturday. Grossman won the 100- and 200-meter dashes with times of 10.89 and 22.80 seconds, respectively, and anchored the Retrievers’ 4x100 relay team that topped Coppin State, Howard and Richmond in 41.74 seconds.

Joy qualified for NCAA Regionals and set a new Stony Brook record in the 3000-meter steeplechase to lead outdoor track and field at the Solomon Husky Invitational on Sunday. Joy crossed first in the event in 10:44.74.

Zyvoloski won the shot put and placed second and third in two other throwing events at the Mount St. Mary’s Eric Kloiber Metro Invitational on Saturday. Zyvoloski continued to shine since his transfer from Shepherd College as the sophomore tossed 47’7.75 in the shot put for first place. He was the second overall collegiate competitor in the hammer throw with a 156’5 mark and took third in the discus throw with a mark of 143’11.

Johnson won the women’s triple jump with a distance of 40’1.25. She becomes just the second Binghamton women’s athlete in history to have jumped at least 40 feet in that event and nearly reached the NCAA Regional qualifying distance of 40’3. Johnson’s distance was also her personal-best by nine inches.
