Jason Cappadoro (Levittown, N.Y./MacArthur) of Stony Brook and Luke Daquino (Farmingville, N.Y./Sachem) of Albany share America East Player of the Week honors while Binghamton’s Stephen Smith (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua Academy) and Stony Brook’s Matt Ural (Syracuse, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) share Rookie of the Week Honors. The awards were announced Monday (April 18).
Cappadoro piled up 11 points in Stony Brook's 2-0 week. On Saturday, he set a new career high when he scored two goals and set up five others in a 16-5 win over Vermont. Earlier in the week, Cappadoro recorded a goal and three assists in the Seawolves' 14-4 win at Siena.
Daquino averaged 7.0 points in a pair of America East wins. He totaled six goals and eight assists on the week in a pair of 16-9 victories. Daquino became the all-time assists leader with 120, and also moved to second on the school's all-time scoring list with 212 points (92 goals, 120 assists).
Smith set a school record with six assists in Binghamton's 13-7 victory over Hartford on Saturday. He also netted a goal against the Hawks, giving him seven point in one game, also a school record.
Ural made his first two collegiate starts in goal and came away with two wins last week. On Saturday, Ural turned in his best game in a Seawolf uniform when he saved a season-high 18 shots in SBU's 16-5 win over Vermont. Earlier in the week, Ural made five saves in a win against Siena.
