Boston University is currently leading America East's 2005-06 Stuart P. Haskell, Jr. Commissioner’s Cup standings after completion of the fall athletic season. The Commissioner’s Cup annually recognizes the strongest athletic program in America East as determined by a scoring system which rewards a school for success both during the regular season and at championship competition in the conference’s 22 sports.
Currently, Boston University boasts 127 points to lead second-place Binghamton University, which has 121 points. University of Maine is third with 117 points, followed by University at Albany (99), UMBC (94), University of Vermont (87), University of New Hampshire (85), Stony Brook University (78) and University of Hartford (30).
Boston University’s point total was bolstered by championships in women's soccer, field hockey and women's cross country. In addition, the Terriers were regular-season champions in women's soccer and field hockey.
Binghamton University received the majority of its points from the volleyball championship and its second-place men's soccer team. The women's cross country team also contributed 12 points.
Maine won a regular-season title in field hockey and garnered post-season runner-up status in both field hockey and women's soccer.
Albany earned the regular-season title in volleyball and also garnered significant points from its men's soccer and field hockey post-season appearances.
UMBC won this year's Men's Cross Country Championship, earning top points, and also finished well in men's soccer, adding to their fifth-place total.
Vermont has yet to win a title this season but both men's and women's soccer and field hockey's top four-finishes keep them in the middle of the pack.
New Hampshire earned runner-up status with it's men's cross country team this season, while women's cross country and men's and women's soccer also added significantly to the Wildcat total.
Stony Brook took home this year's men's soccer title and was also the regular season champion. The Seawolves were runners-up in women's cross country and volleyball as well.
Hartford earned the majority of their points through the final placement of their men's and women's soccer teams.
The Stuart P. Haskell, Jr. Commissioner’s Cup is named in honor of the first commissioner of America East. Haskell served as commissioner of the conference from 1987 until his retirement in 1997.

Haskell, Jr. Commissioner’s Cup is as follows: In sports where regular-season round robin competition is conducted, the first-place institution in the final standings receives four points times the total number of teams involved in conference play. The second-place institution receives four less points; third place receives eight less points, and so on. Additionally, the America East (tournament) champion receives two points times the total number of teams participating in the championship. The second-place institution receives two less points; third place receives four less points and so on down to the last-place institution which receives two points.
In sports where regular-season round robin competition is not conducted (cross country, golf, tennis, track and field, swimming and diving), the first-place institution at the America East championship receives two points times the total number of teams participating in the championship. The second-place institution receives two less points; third place gets four less points and so on down to the last place team which receives two points.
