Maine’s Bracey Barker (Bar Harbor, Maine/Mt. Desert Island) has been named Wilson Player of the Week, while freshman forward Danielle Hood (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y./Walter Panas) of Hartford receives Rookie of the Week accolades. The honors were announced on Monday (December 20).
Barker scored 20 points on 8-of-9 shooting from the floor to lift Maine past visiting Michigan, 69-61. She added four boards, two steals and two assists, while connecting on both of her attempts from behind-the-arc. With the Black Bears leading by only one with 13:36 to play in the first half, Barker drained a trey to spark her team.
Hood notched career-highs of 15 points and 10 rebounds in the 65-55 win over Fairfield on Monday. The double-double was the first of her career and the first for the Hawks this season. She ranks second on the team in rebounding (4.7 rpg) and fifth in scoring (6.7 ppg).
