Binghamton’s Sebastian Hermenier (Rockville, Md./Maret) and Hartford’s Kenny Adeleke (Queens, N.Y./Paul Robeson/Hofstra) share America East Player of the Week honors, while Maine’s Philippe Tchekane Bofia (Yaounde, Cameroon/Redemption Christian Academy) earns the first Rookie of the Week accolade of his career. The awards were announced Monday (December 19).

Hermenier scored a career-high 24 points in win over North Florida, extending his double-digit scoring streak to five games. The 6-6 forward also pulled down 10 boards to record his second consecutive double-double and third of 2005-06 season.

Adeleke led the Hawks at St. Francis College (N.Y.) on Sunday with season highs of 26 points and 18 rebounds on 11-of-19 shooting. The 6-9 forward recorded his fifth double-double of the season and 40th of his career. Adeleke netted the first 10 points of the game for the Hawks as he earns his third such award of the season.

Tchekane Bofia averaged 12.0 ppg and 4.0 rpg on the week. He scored nine points in Maine’s win over Dartmouth and also tied for the team-lead with four rebounds. The 6-6 forward then scored a career-high 15 points in Maine’s contest at Rutgers. He dropped in nine of Maine’s first 12 points and also grabbed four rebounds in the game to tie for the team-lead for the second game in a row.

AMERICA EAST NOTES
Retrievers claw back to .500: UMBC has evened its record at 4-4 on the season with its quality 64-60 win over the Colonial Athletic Association’s William & Mary. The Retrievers off are to their best start since beginning the 2001-02 season with a 5-3 mark. UMBC now embarks on a season-long four-game road trip. The Retrievers are 0-3 on the road this season and 4-1 at home.

League games continue: Early America East Conference games continue this week as Albany hosts Binghamton on Tuesday, December 20 (7 p.m.) and then travels to take on Stony Brook on Friday, December 23 (7 p.m.). It will be a good early test for the preseason favorite Great Danes as they have yet to play a conference contest. The Seawolves are 0-1 in the league so far, while the Bearcats have not had a conference outing either. The Great Danes have lost three of four conference openers since joining the league in 2001-02. Albany and Binghamton will meet for the 76th time, with the Bearcats winning nine of the last 10 match-ups. Albany leads the Stony Brook series, 27-14, but each team won by six points or less to split last year’s two-game set…

Road woes: New Hampshire has lost the first three games of its season-long five-game road trip. UNH now heads to Penn State and North Carolina State. The five-game stretch is not only the longest road swing of the season, but also the toughest span on the Wildcats 2005-06 schedule.

Holiday break: America East’s Weekly Release will not be available next week, but will return on Monday, January 2. Over the holiday break, AmericaEast.com will continue to be your source for the latest scores, standings and statistics. Daily Updates will still be produced on game days when warranted.
