UMBC’s Ryan Karrer (Linwood, N.J./Mainland Regional) and Meghan Sackett (Cockeyscille, Md./Dulaney/Maryland) have been named the Men’s and Women’s Swimming Performers of the Week, repectively, while Binghamton’s Ryan Graham (Vestal, N.Y./Vestal) and UMBC’s Ashley Houghton (Frederick, Md./Urbana/Pittsburgh) have been named the Men’s and Women’s Diving Performers of the Week, respectively. The awards were announced Tuesday (November 1).(Week 1 recap)

Karrer swept the distance events (500- and 1,000-free) at all three meets of the season, and he broke New Hampshire’s Swasey Pool record in the 1,000-free with his time of 9:33.04.

Sackett has won all eight events in which she has competed this season. After taking the 200-free and 200-fly at Rider, she won the 200- and 500-free and 200-fly against Navy, coming within six-hundredths of a second of breaking UMBC’s 16-year-old 500-free record and finishing more than 30 seconds before her closest competition in the same event. She won the same three events the next day to lead the Retrievers past defending conference champion New Hampshire.

In Graham’s second collegiate meet against conference foe Boston University, he made the ECAC cut in the three-meter board dive with a score of 275.55 and in the one-meter board dive he scored 271.58. He has earned first place in the three-meter in all three meets, and placed first in the one-meter dive against Boston University.

Houghton has swept the diving events in all three meets this season. Against Navy, she broke both UMBC diving marks with scores of 273.59 on the one-meter and 293.40 on the three-meter. The three-meter record shattered the previous mark by nearly 23 points.
