Four of the five Second Team All-Conference selections from the 2004-05 season have been named to the Preseason All-Conference Team as voted by the league’s coaches. The team was chosen regardless of position and coaches were not permitted to vote for their own players.

Lucious Jordan and Jamar Wilson of the University at Albany, Andre Heard of Binghamton University and Kevin Reed of the University of Maine were honored last season and are joined on the preseason squad by Shaun Wynn of Boston University.

Wilson, a 6-1 guard, finished fourth in the conference in scoring and assists and led the league in free throw percentage (82.8 percentage) a season ago. Wilson was a key factor in helping the Great Danes post their best ever league record in America East Conference play with a 9-9 mark and fourth-place finish. Jordan was the only Great Dane to start all 28 games last season and was also among the league’s top-ten scorers at 14.8 points per game. Wilson and Jordan played a major factor in Albany being chosen as the top team in the Preseason Coaches’ Poll for the first time in program history.

Binghamton’s leading scorer from 2004-05, Heard ranked ninth in the league in scoring (14.3 ppg) a season ago and will be heavily relied upon again this season to provide a lift on the offensive end of the floor for the Bearcats. The 6-3 guard is one of the most dangerous offensive players in the league as he has the ability to shoot the three and drive to the basket.

Reed is the conference’s active career scoring (1,1709) and rebounding (513) leader and ranks 14th on Maine’s all-time scoring list. The 6-2 guard played in all 29 games for the Black Bears and ranked 13th in the league in scoring (12.8 ppg) and sixth in rebounding (6.9 rpg) in 2004-05. From the backcourt, Reed also led the conference in defensive rebounds.

Wynn, the 2003-04 America East Defensive Player of the Year, is the top returner for the Terriers. This past season, the 6-2 guard led the Terriers in assists (3.4 apg) and steals (1.8 spg). Wynn was a major factor in the Terriers nationally recognized defense last season, which led all NCAA Division I schools by holding opponents to just over 37 percent shooting.
