University of Vermont’s Kelly McClintock (Williston, Vt./Rice) and Megan Maynard (Waterbury Center, Vt./Harwood) were named America East Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week, respectively. The awards were announced Monday (October 3).
McClintock led the Catamounts with five goals on the week as Vermont went 1-1, including picking up its first America East victory of the season. McClintock opened the week with a goal against Dartmouth in a 3-2 penalty-stroke loss. The sophomore followed it up with a four-goal performance in Vermont’s league opening 9-5 victory over UMBC. She scored all four goals in the first 8:51 of the contest, setting Vermont single-game records in the process for goals scored (four) and points (eight). McClintock now leads the team this season in both goals scored (eight) and points (16).
Maynard scored what proved to be the game-winning goal in Vermont’s 9-5 victory over UMBC. Maynard also set up the first goal of the contest with a feed to Kelly McClintock. The freshman netted the first goal of her college career and an assist in the contest. She has made eight starts in 11 games this season as a freshman and now has a goal and two assists for three points on the year.
