Maine's Heather Hathorn (Scarborough, Maine/Scarborough/ Loomis-Chaffee) has been named Player of the Week for the second time this season, while New Hampshire's Michelle Sheehan (Belmont, Mass./Belmont) garners her second Rookie of the Week award of the season. The awards were announced Monday (October 24).
Hathorn netted two goals on the week, both game-winners, as the Black Bears sewed up the No. 2 seed for this week's America East Championship. The senior forward scored the game-winning goal on Thursday at Vermont and followed that up by scoring the game-winning goal in Maine’s 2-0 win over UMBC on Sunday afternoon. Hathorn leads Maine with three game-winning goals on the season.
Sheehan gave the Wildcats a 1-0 lead en route to the team’s 2-1 victory against Albany in the regular-season finale. With the victory, the Wildcats clinched a berth to the America East Championship and the No. 5 seed for the six-team event.
