Two-time America East Player of the Year Taylor Coppenrath of Vermont and rookie Shawn James of Northeastern lead the nation in statistical categories. Coppenrath leads the nation in scoring with 26.4 ppg while James leads the nation in blocked shots per game with 5.4. The leaders were announced by the NCAA Tuesday (January 4).

Coppenrath, who has scored 238 points in nine games this season, has 1,903 career points in 92 games. His 20.7 ppg career average is also tops among the nation's seniors. The 6-9 forward is poised to become the ninth player in the 26-year history of America East to record 2,000 points.

James has 49 blocks in nine games for the Huskies. The 6-9 forward recorded the first triple-double in the 86-year history of the Northeastern program when he had 17 points, 12 rebounds and 11 blocks in a 76-61 win over Iona on December 30.

Others among the national leaders include Northeastern junior guard Jose Juan Barea, who ranks fifth in the nation in scoring with 23.2 ppg and Albany junior guard Lucious Jordan, who ranks seventh in three-point field goal percentage, having connected on 28-of-54 treys (.519).
