Vermont senior guard T.J. Sorrentine was named America East Player of the Week while Catamount forward Josh Duell and Stony Brook guard Antwan Hardy share Rookie of the Week honors. The awards were announced Monday (January 17).
Sorrentine (Pawtucket, R.I./St. Raphael’s) is the America East Player of the Week for the second time this season. The 5-11 guard recorded back-to-back 30-plus scoring efforts then added 16 points and eight assists without a turnover as the Catamounts took sole possession of first place in the conference with a 69-58 win over Boston University Sunday. He had 30 points and four assists in a 78-68 win over Dartmouth Monday and followed that with a 31-point, four-assist effort in a win at Stony Brook Wednesday.
Duell (Scotia. N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) connected on five-of-five three-point attempts en route to 15 points in a 69-58 win over Boston University Sunday.
Hardy (Rockville, Md./Montrose Christian) had a team-high 15 points and three steals in a 67-54 win over Hartford Saturday.
