Crocus, Peterson, Zub Take Volleyball Honors

Binghamton's Anne Crocus (Bethlehem, Pa./Freedom) has been named America East Player of the Week for volleyball, while Northeastern's Bree Peterson (Huntington Beach, Calif./Marina) and Stony Brook's Julie Zub (St. Louis, Mo./Ursuline Academy) were named Rookie of the Week and Setter of the Week, respectively.

Crocus averaged 4.43 kills and 1.93 blocks per game in four matches this past weekend at the Western New York Tournament. Against Niagara, she posted a school-record 17 blocks and later tallied a career-high 25 kills and made just two errors in 54 attempts to hit .411 against Texas-Arlington. She had a match-high 20 kills against Canisius. Her weekend concluded with a selection to the Western New York all-tournament team.

Peterson tallied 46 assists and a team-high 22 digs in her first collegiate start against No. 23 Long Beach State. The rookie setter was also named to the Nike/Holiday Inn Sunset Classic All-Tournament team after recording 86 assists and 31 digs in the three matches of the tournament. Peterson recorded double-digit digs in three of the four games last week. For the week, Peterson averaged 8.25 assists and 3.31 digs per game.

Zub was the catalyst of the Stony Brook offense, posting 147 assists in three matches this week. Zub averaged 14.7 assists per game and added 2.30 digs per game as the Seawolves went 2-1 at the Western New York Invitational. For her efforts, Zub was named to the Western New York Invitational All-Tournament Team.
