Senior back Erik Evjen of Boston University and forward Jimmy Velas of Maine were named America East Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively, on Monday, September 27.
Evjen (Askim, Norway, St. Olav) scored the game-winner in the Terriers' 2-0 win over Rhode Island Wednesday and then anchored the defense in a 2-0 win over defending America East champion Binghamton Saturday. Evjen, who is second on the team in scoring with two goals and an assist after playing forward early in the season, moved back to anchor the defense last week and helped limit Binghamton to six shots.
Velas (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth) scored a goal and added an assist as the Black Bears earned a 2-2 draw at New Hampshire Saturday.
