Stony Brook’s Andrew Larsen (Valley Stream, N.Y./Valley Stream Central) has been named America East Player of the Week, while Vermont's Chris Blazek (Litchfield, Conn./Litchfield) and Miguel Magrass (West Roxbury, Mass./Salisbury) have been honored as Pitcher of the Week and Rookie of the Week, respectively. The awards were announced on Monday (May 24).

Larsen was instrumental in the Seawolves’ run at the final spot in the America East Baseball Championship. Larsen hit .625 (5-for-8) in SBU’s series with Binghamton, smacking two doubles, scoring three times, driving in two runs and stealing a base. In Stony Brook’s playoff-clinching 2-0 victory over the Bearcats, Larsen recorded SBU’s only two hits of the game, both doubles, while driving in one run and scoring the other.

Blazek struck out a career-high 16 batters, just one off the UVM single-game record, in a victory over Hartford. He allowed just four hits, all singles, while walking just three Hawks. On the season, Blazek leads America East in strikeouts (92) and strikeouts per game (12.24).

Magrass has earned his fourth Rookie of the Week award this season, the most in America East. Magrass had another outstanding week at the plate with 9 RBI and .684 slugging as the Catamounts went 3-1. Five of his six hits went for extra bases, including four doubles. For the year, he set a new Vermont single-season record with 52 RBI and also tied the school record with 18 doubles.
