New Hampshire Falls at Dartmouth

Sarah Sanborn and Katieanne Christian each scored three goals, pacing Dartmouth to a 14-12 victory over New Hampshire in first round of the NCAA Championship at Hanover Thursday.

In a tightly contested game, the Big Green (11-5 overall) broke away from a slim 11-10 lead, scoring three straight goals during a three-minute stretch late in the second half.

Lana Smith improved the Big Green lead to 12-10 at 8:42, before Christian made it 13-10 exactly one minute later. Casey Hazel pushed the advantage to 14-10 with 5:30 to play.

UNH had goals from Katie Leland and Jess Burnap in the final four minutes, but couldn't reduce the deficit to less than two.

For the Wildcats (15-5), Laura Dosdall had four goals, while Leland and Burnap each had three apiece.

For Dartmouth, Lana Smith and Kate Killen each contributed two goals and two assists. Hazel also potted two goals to go along with one assist. Other goal scorers for the Big Green were Elizabeth Right and Molly Jenkins.

In the nets, Dartmouth's Devon Wills made six saves, while New Hampshire's Stacey Plati made eight in the first 54:30 before Julie Bevad had one in the final minutes.
