Brendan Callahan of Stony Brook and Merrick Thomson of Albany have been named America East Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively. The awards were announced Monday (April 26).
Callahan (Hanover, Md./Gonzaga) made 21 saves as the Seawolves clinched a berth in the four-team America East Championship with a 6-5 win at UMBC Saturday. The rookie goalkeeper leads America East in both goals against average (5.95) and save percentage (.691).
Thomson (Stoney Creek, Ontario/Albany Academy) set a school record with eight goals in a 21-13 win at Hartford Wednesday and added three assists for 11 points. The rookie attackman also had a goal in the loss to No. 6 Syracuse.
