Albany’s Dan Schoonmaker (High Falls, N.Y./Rondout Valley HS/Ulster County CC) has been named America East's Baseball Player of the Week, while Devin Monds (Ottawa, Ontario/Nepean) of Northeastern and Brendon Hitchcock (Laceyville, Pa./Wyalusing Valley) of Binghamton received Pitcher of the Week and Rookie of the Week honors respectively. The awards were announced on Monday (April 12).

Schoonmaker went 11-for-20 this week, with five home runs and 15 RBI. He drove in 10 runs, including a grandslam and a three-run homer in the Great Danes’ doubleheader sweep of Canisius. The senior first/third baseman is batting .398 on the year with a league-leading seven home runs.

Monds pitched a nine-inning complete game to lead a come-from-behind win over conference rival Maine 3-2. Monds allowed two runs in the fourth inning and then held Maine scoreless for the final five innings, giving NU the chance to win.

Hitchcock raised his batting average 87 points with an excellent week for Binghamton. He ran his hit streak to a team-best eight games and had two or more hits in three of six games. The first baseman’s biggest highlight of the week came in Binghamton’s come-from-behind 8-7 win at Hartford, as he drilled a three-run home run to tie the game in Binghamton’s final at-bat.
