Burnap Leads Women's Lacrosse Honorees

Junior Jess Burnap of New Hampshire, who tied the school single-game record with eight goals, was named America East Player of the Week Monday (March 29). Teammate Cristina Covucci was named Defender of the Week. Kate Fontana of Albany and Becky Green of Binghamton shared America East Rookie of the Week honors.

Burnap (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) tied the school record with eight goals in a 19-11 win vs. Boston College Wednesday. The midfielder added a goal and an assist in the 12-11 double-overtime win at Massachusetts Saturday.

Covucci (Concord, Mass./Concord-Carlisle) had eight ground balls and four caused turnovers as the Wildcats defeated Boston College and Massachusetts.

Fontana (East Syracuse, N.Y./East Syracuse-Minoa) had four goals and two assists in the 13-9 win over Quinnipiac Tuesday and added two goals and an assist in the 12-5 win over Siena Saturday. She added 12 ground balls and five caused turnovers in the two games. Green (Altamont, N.Y./Guilderland) had three goals and four assists in a 15-8 win over Canisius Saturday and also had three goals and an assist in a 9-8 loss at Long Island Tuesday.
