Northeastern’s Jeff Heriot (Franklin, Mass./Franklin) has been named the baseball season's first America East Player of the Week, while sophomore Nick Murphy (Albany, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) of Albany and Miguel Magrass (West Roxbury, Mass./Salisbury School) of Vermont have been named the Pitcher and Rookie of the Week respectively. The awards were announced Tuesday (March 23).
Heriot leads America East in hitting (.457), slugging percentage (.771) and triples (3) and has been named the America East Player of the Week. The 6-2 right fielder also boasts 11 RBI, a .513 on-base percentage and has five multiple-hit games through NU’s first 11 outings.
Murphy is off to an impressive start on the hill for the 9-3 Great Danes. Murphy is 3-0 in four appearances with a quality 1.61 ERA through 22.1 innings pitched. The 6-3 right hander has struck out a league-best 25 batters, while walking just eight and allowing only four earned runs.
Magrass has hit .357 through the Catamounts’ first 11 games and has posted team-highs in RBIs (10) and runs (8). The 6-3 first baseman notched his first career home run in style with a grand slam in Vermont’s 13-4 win over St. Bonaventure.
