America East Swimmers and Divers Sweep ECAC Championship Awards

Boston University won both individual diving awards at the ECAC Championships as Kristin Stratton (Aurora, Colo./Smoky Hill) was named Women’s Diver of the Meet and Victor Paguia (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest) was honored as Men’s Diver of the Meet. America East swimmers also garnered Swimmer of the Meet honors as Shannon Daly (Brightwaters, N.Y./Brightwaters) of University of New Hampshire grabbed the women’s award and Brad Green (Philadelphia, Pa./LaSalle College) of University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) was awarded the men’s accolade.

Daly dominated events throughout the meet as she collected three first-place finishes in the 500-yard freestyle (5:00.85), 200 free (1:53.27) and 200 breast (2:20.50) and also swam on both the 200 free (1:37.06) and 800 free relay (7:45.43) teams which both finished in first place. Green out swam the competition in the 50 free, finishing with a time of 20.53 and also grabbed third-place honors in the 100 free (45.59).

In diving, Paguia grabbed first place in the three-meter dive (491.55) and also took second in the one-meter (302.65), while Stratton placed first in the three-meter (428.80).

Other top America East women’s competitors included Melissa Lague (Salem, N.H./Notre Dame Academy) of New Hampshire, who placed first in the 100 back (56.76), second in the 200 back (2:02.28) and also swam on the 200 free relay team. Yun Qu (Hangzhou, China/Hangzhou) of Binghamton University grabbed first-place in the 200 fly. Tal Shapizer (Shoham, Israel/Hof-Hasharon) was the top individual finisher for University of Maine with a fifth-place finish in the 100 fly (58.42) and Ali Fowler (Reno, Nev./Reno) led University of Vermont with an 11th-place finish in the 400 IM (4:44.88).

Trevor Stone (Windsor, N.Y./Windsor) and Robert Kaczynski (Tychy, Poland/School of Sports) of Binghamton each garnered first-place honors, winning the 100 fly (1:41.11) and 100 breast (2:05.50) respectively. Jakub Sroczynski (Zielona Gora, Poland/VII Lo) of UMBC won the 200 back (1:50.64) and Steve Tamas (Stratford, Conn./Fairfield Prep.) of New Hampshire captured the 100 breast (56.40) title.
