The Northeastern women defeated America East rival Maine 133-107. Guiding the way for the Huskies was Sarah Reddick (Tomball, Texas/Tomball) who took the 200 free (1:58.42) and the 100 fly (57.91) and Adela Gavozdea (Sibiu, Romania/O. Goga) who took the one-meter (281.10) and three-meter (251.25) dives.

The Black Bears also took on Boston College during the week, falling to the Eagles 168-132 on the women’s side and 212-77 for the men. Maine was led by Tal Shpaizer (Shoham, Israel) who won two events and Brittany Harrington (Alexandria, Va./Mt. Vernon) who grabbed two first-place finishes.

The Binghamton women won a 122-121 decision but the men came up short, losing to Lafayette 125.5-115.5. Yun Qu (Hangzhou, China/Hangzhou), Laura Linek (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua) and Amy DeWitt (Mastic, N.Y./William Floyd) each won two events for the women while Chris McGuire (Essex, England/Palmer VI Form), Brian Roach (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) and Robert Kaczynski (Tychy, Poland/School of Sports) were also double winners. Later on in the week, both Bearcat teams fell to Colgate, despite McGuire and Qu each picking up two first-place finishes.

The Vermont women’s team and both teams from UMBC and Stony Brook were also victorious in their respective meets this week. UMBC defeated Marist in men’s events 132-101 and 133-108 in the women’s field. The Retrievers received strong performance from Jon Gdowik (West Chester, Pa./Henderson), who won both diving events and set a new school record in the three-meter (281.40). The Stony Brook men defeated Fairfield 130-103 and the women were victorious by a 130-106 margin. The men won eight of the 11 events, while Shirlee Manoogian (Holbrook, N.Y./Maryland) shattered the school record in the 500 free (5:08.16). The Catamount women defeated Providence 126-117 behind Erin Burke’s (Boston, Mass./Boston Latin) two first-place finishes.

Boston University was also in action during the week as the Terrier women picked up a 213-80 win over Rhode Island, while the men fell 157-142. Kelly Sweeting (Sarasota, Fla./Sarasota) won both the 100 back (1:00.77) and the 200 back (2:08.96) for the Terriers, while Stacey Gallacher (Horseheads, N.Y./Horseheads) grabbed first in both diving events. Griffin Moodie (Edina, Minn./Edina) and Victor Paguia (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest) each swam to two first-place finishes for the men.
