Grochowalski, Sturgill, Iati Honored in Men's Basketball

Senior Jason Grochowalski of Boston University and junior Ben Sturgill of New Hampshire share America East Player of the Week honors. Albany's Jon Iati is the America East Rookie of the Week for the seventh time this season. The awards were announced Monday (February 23).

Grochowalski (Shrewsbury, Mass./Worcester Academy) came off the bench and scored a season-high 21 points to help the Terriers to an 82-68 win over Northeastern Sunday. The win was the 10th straight for Boston University, which held onto the top spot in America East. The 6-6 forward had nine points in a 64-53 win at Maine Wednesday.

Sturgill (Hamilton, Ohio/Hamilton) scored 20 points, including the buzzer-beater in a 62-60 win at UMBC Wednesday. The 6-8 forward was 7-of-11 from the floor and 6-of-8 at the line and added four rebounds and two blocks. He scored eight points and added a team-high seven rebounds in the 78-57 win over Vermont Saturday.

Iati (York, Pa./York Catholic) scored a season-high 26 points on 11-of-20 shooting from the floor and added three assists while playing all 50 minutes in an 81-74 double-overtime loss to Stony Brook Wednesday. The 5-9 guard scored 14 points and matched a season-high with six assists with only one turnover while playing 40 minutes in a 77-59 win over Hartford Saturday. Iati has played 40 or more minutes 19 times this season and leads America East with 40.2 minutes per contest.
