The UMBC women's swimming and diving team defeated Johns Hopkins, 131-78, while the men won a 128-101 decision. Both teams improved to 12-1 with the wins, breaking the schools record for number of wins in a season. In the women’s events, Amanda Otis (Jacksonville, Fla./Mandarin) took top honors in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:43.17), Agnieszka Stanislawska (Zielona Gora, Poland/LO VI Zielona Gora) won the 200 free (1:55.16), Elyse Gibson (Nova Scotia, Canada/Queen Elizabeth) won the 50 free (25.86) and Astrid Sperling (Halle, Germany/Halle) captured the 200 IM (2:11.04). On the men's side, Carlos Canepa (Lima, Peru/Santa Maria) won the 1,000 free (9:36.97), Brad Green (Philadelphia, Pa./LaSalle College) captured the 50 free (21.42) and Jakub Sroczynski (Zielona Gora, Poland/VII Lo) topped all swimmers in the 200 free (1:45.19) and the 200 IM (1:54.28).

The Binghamton and Stony Brook swimming & diving teams split a dual meet, with the Binghamton men winning 127-111 and the Stony Brook women prevailing 135-108. On the men’s side, double winners for Binghamton included Brian Koizim (White Plains, N.Y./White Plains), Brian Roach (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) and Robert Kaczynski (Tychy, Poland/School of Sports), while Ted Freeborn (Gloversville, N.Y./Gloversville), Jeffrey Chu (East Setauket, N.Y./Johns Hopkins) and Billy Fick (Kings Park, N.Y./Goucher College) were single winners for the Seawolves. On the women’s side, Shirlee Manoogian (Holbrook, N.Y./University of Maryland) won two events for Seawolves and Yun Qu (Hangzhou, China/Hangzhou) and Laura Linek (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua) each won two events for the Bearcats.

The New Hampshire swimming and diving teams picked up wins over Maine, 181-118 on the women’s side and 161-125 for the men. Shannon Daly (Brightwaters, N.Y./Brightwaters) set a new school record in the 1,000 free (10:20.42) and also won the 500 free (5:07.60) to lead the Wildcat women. New Hampshire’s James Hughes (Portland, Maine/Deering) won three events, capturing first in the 100 backstroke (56.57 seconds), 100 free (48.57) and 500 free (4:54.74). The top finishers for Maine included Sam Hartery (Bangor, Maine/Bangor), who won both women’s diving events and Andy Magiera (Surry, Maine/John Bapst Memorial) who won the 200 butterfly (2:02.16) for the men.

The Vermont 200 freestyle relay team competed at the Middlebury Invitational, finishing with an ECAC Championship qualifying time of 1:43.29. Monica Jaferian (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford-Mendon), Erin Burke (Boston, Mass./Boston Latin), Helen Dembinski (Hamden, Conn./Hamden) and Allison Buza (Huntingdon, Pa./Huntingdon) made up the four-member team.
