Freeborn, Manoogian, Johnstone, Dege Pick Up Swimming and Diving Honors

Stony Brook’s Ted Freeborn (Gloversville, N.Y./Gloversville) and Shirlee Manoogian (Holbrook, N.Y./Sachem) have been named the Men’s and Women’s Swimming Performers of the Week, respectively, while New Hampshire’s Chris Johnstone (South Burlington, Vt./South Burlington) and Shana Dege (Lockport, N.Y./Lockport) have been named the Men’s and Women’s Diving performers of the week, respectively. The awards were announced Tuesday (December 7).

The senior Freeborn posted a first-place time of 21.19 in the 50 freestyle and went on to help his 200 medley and 200 freestyle teams to first-place finishes.

Manoogian, a junior at Stony Brook, touched the wall first in the 50 freestyle in a time of 24.22, breaking her own record of 24.66. She then went on to win the 100 freestyle in a time of 52.11, shattering her old record of 53.96. She finished the day with a new mark for the Seawolves in her 4:30.91 first-place finish in the 400 IM, blowing by her old record of 4:35.99 in the event. Her 200-medley relay team took first to set the tone the rest of the way.

Johnstone, who is a senior at New Hampshire, earned points for the Wildcats as he posted a score of 422.60 in the one-meter dive and finished third in the three-meter dive at the Bucknell Invitational this weekend.

Dege, a freshman at UNH, had a 430.05-point performance in the three-meter dive, winning the event for UNH at the Bucknell Invitational this weekend.
