Maine's Kaili Jordan (Raymore, Saskatchewan/Raymore) and Albany's Ashlee Reed (Round Rock, Texas/Round Rock) share the America East Player of the Week accolade, while Northeastern's Kira Batura ( Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove South) and Shelly Seipp (Spokane, Wash./John R. Rogers) of Maine garner Rookie of the Week and Setter of the Week awards, respectively. The honors were named on Monday (November 8).
Jordan led Maine’s offense in two conference road victories last week as the Black Bears secured a berth in the America East Championship for the first time since 2001. She posted 39 kills (5.57 per game) in two matches. She had a double-double with a match-high 22 kills and 20 digs in a 3-1 win over Northeastern. In a 3-0 sweep of Hartford, Jordan posted 17 kills. For the season, she paces the team with 319 kills (3.71 per game). Reed paced the Great Dane offense with 29 kills and an average of 4.83 kills per game in two victories last week that clinched the top seed in the conference tournament. She also tallied 17 digs (2.83 per game), four service aces and three block assists. Reed tied her career-high with 17 kills against Stony Brook and followed that up with a 12-kill, 10-dig showing against UMBC for her fifth double-double of the season. She finished with a team-high .540 hitting percentage (29 of 50), including a .640 (17 of 25) performance versus Stony Brook. She has moved into ninth on Albany’s all-time kills list with 786 for her career.
Batura helped lead the Huskies to a berth in the America East Championship with 28 total kills in two matches over the weekend, including a team-high 16 against Maine. Batura also tallied a second-best 39 digs for an average of 5.57 digs per game. Her 27 digs against Maine helped her to a team-leading 11th double-double of the year. The rookie outside hitter added five service aces and four block assists for the weekend.
Seipp helped Maine to a pair of conference victories last week, enabling the team to clinch a berth in the America East Championship for the first time since 2001. In two matches, she had 107 assists (15.29 per game) and 40 digs (5.71 per game). Seipp recorded a double-double in each match, In a 3-1 victory over Northeastern, as she posted a match- and season-high 64 assists, plus 30 digs. The 30 digs were two shy of tying the school single-match record. She had 43 assists, 10 digs and four service aces in the Black Bears 3-0 win at Hartford. She has recorded 40 or more assists in 12 contests this season and leads the team with 10.60 assists per game.
