Dixon, Collins Garner Weekly Field Hockey Accolades

Northeastern’s Liane Dixon (Vineyard Haven, Mass./Martha’s Vineyard Regional) has been named America East Player of the Week for field hockey, while Vermont’s Danielle Collins (Walpole, Mass./Walpole) has been named Rookie of the Week. The awards were announced Monday (October 18).

Dixon, a senior co-captain, had 16 points (six goals, four assists) in Northeastern’s conference wins over Vermont and UMBC last week. In NU’s 10-0 win over Vermont on Friday, Dixon had three goals. In the Huskies’ 7-0 win over UMBC on Sunday, Dixon had one of the greatest games in NU history with three goals and four assists. Her four assists tied the NU single-game record. Her 10 points in the game were two off the NU record of 12 points in a game.

In a 5-1 loss to Sacred Heart, Collins broke up the shutout with a goal late in the game off an assist from Stirling Winder (Manchester, Mass./Governor Dummer). Collins now has five goals and two assists for 12 points and leads the team in goals and points.
