New Hampshire’s Maren Matthias (Guilford, Conn./Guilford) and Boston University’s Adrienne Norris (Delafield, Wisc./Kettle Morraine) share this week’s Wilson Player of the Week award, while freshman Mykeema Ford (Trenton, N.J./Trenton) of Stony Brook receives the Wilson Rookie of the Week accolade.
Matthias was huge for UNH in all three contests played during this span. She had her best game versus WAC opponent SMU, scoring 23 points, grabbing 14 rebounds and blocking one shot for a double-double in the win. She just missed two more double-doubles with 20 or more points in all three games, but grabbing eight rebounds against Colgate and nine at St. Francis. With her three strong performances her scoring average for the season broke the 20.0 ppg mark. She is averaging 20.1 ppg and 8.2 rpg on the season.
Norris played the best all-around game of her career in the Terriers win over Wagner, tying a career-high with 22 points while posting team-highs of nine rebounds, six assists, and five steals. In Boston U.’s win over Marist, she notched the team’s first double-double of the season with 16 points and a game-high 12 rebounds. Norris also had four steals, three assists, and two blocks against the Red Foxes. To start off the week, she totaled nine points, three assists, and two rebounds in Boston U.’s win over Fairleigh Dickinson.
Ford was nearly unstoppable in the Seawolves last three outings, averaging 20.3 ppg on 61.5 percent (24-of-39) shooting from the field, including 53.3 percent (8-of-15) from three-point range. The freshman guard was named to the Hawk Classic all-tournament team after averaging 21.5 ppg on 17-of-25 shooting (68.0 percent).
Ford started off with a 20-point performance against host Saint Joseph’s after shooting 66.7 percent from the field and 60.0 percent from downtown. In the consolation game versus UNC-Charlotte, Ford netted a game and career-high 23 points on 9-of-13 shooting (69.2 percent) from the floor, hitting on 3-of-5 three pointers while dishing out a career-best four assists. Against Harvard, Ford collected a team-best 18 points while shooting 7-of-14 to go with three steals.
