Northeastern’s Maralene Zwarich (Merriam, Kan./Shawnee Mission North) has been selected as this week’s Wilson Player of the Week for the second consecutive time, while Boston University's Nadia Bibbs (Oak Forest, Ill./Hillcrest) has been named Wilson Rookie of the Week.
The 6-0 sophomore averaged 28.0 ppg and 10.0 rpg as Northeastern went 1-1 on the week. In NU’s 91-78 win over UMBC, Zwarich poured in a career-high 39 points on 17-of-26 shooting and pulled down nine rebounds to lead the Huskies. The 39-point total was the third highest in school history. She earlier scored 17 points and hauled in 11 boards against Hartford.
Zwarich has scored in double figures in six straight contests and is averaging a team-best 17.1 ppg on the season.
The freshman Bibbs recorded averages of 12.0 ppg and 3.0 rpg as the Terriers notched their first and second conference wins of the season to even their league record at 2-2. The 5-7 guard scored 12 points in both of Boston U.’s games on the week versus UMBC and Vermont. She also averaged 1.5 apg and 1.5 spg.
On the season, Bibbs is second on the team in steals (25) and fourth in assists (24).
