Northeastern University forward Mari Creatini (Auburndale, Mass./Newton North) has been named America East Player of the Week for the third consecutive week, while Kristina Maze (Glens Falls, N.Y./Glens Falls) of Albany has received Rookie of the Week accolades.
Creatini scored eight goals with one assist in three games on the week for the Huskies. She matched her career single-game high of eight points with a career best four goals in one game in NU’s America East season-opening 6-0 win at UMBC. Creatini started the week at 17th ranked Boston College, scoring twice, including the overtime game winner. At Delaware, she scored twice to erase a two-goal Husky deficit then assisted on Leigh Shea’s goal to give NU a 3-2 advantage.
Maze scored twice and earned an assist in Albany’s 7-1 victory over Siena on Wednesday. Maze, the twin sister of freshman goalkeeper Marisa Maze, tallied her first collegiate goal at the 30:47 mark in the second period. In only her second game of the season, Maze’s first goal proved to be the game winner and later scored her second tally with 13:03 remaining in the contest. Maze picked up an assist on Alexis Johnson’s goal with 12:49 left in the first period.
