Four America East Athletes Named Academic All-Americans

Four America East student-athletes were named to Verizon Academic All-America teams, it was announced recently by Verizon and the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Jonathan Brims of Stony Brook University received First Team Men's Track and Field/Cross Country honors. Brims, who received a perfect GPA of 4.00 in Business, placed fifth at the America East Outdoor Track and Field Championships with a time of 1:54.72.

Fellow Seawolf Jenny Payne was recognized as a Second Team Women's Track and Field/Cross Country Academic All-American. Payne, a Biology major with a 3.85 GPA, was the America East Champion in Cross Country, and was named to the All-America team after placing 23rd at the NCAA Championship.

Emil Bove of University at Albany and University of Maine's Jacob Jentzer were named to the First and Second Team Men's At-Large Teams, respectively. Bove, who posted a perfect 4.00 GPA in Public Policy/Economics, earned All-Championship honors after helping the Great Danes win the America East Men's Lacrosse Championship. Jentzer scored in four relays and three individual events, highlighted by a second place finish in the 100-yard Butterfly, at the America East Swimming and Diving Championships, and also earned a perfect 4.00 GPA, in Biochemistry/Psychology.
