Top-seeded Boston University defeated No. 4 seeded Stony Brook University, 2-0, Thursday at University Field, at the America East Softball Championship. Sophomore Julie Henneke pitched a two-hit shutout, and hit a home run to lead the Terriers to the victory.

Boston University started the second inning with a single to center by freshman Erin McDonald. Fellow rookie Jose Mendez followed with a single up the middle, to put runners on first and second. Senior Tiffany Finateri then hit a shot to second base, which was misplayed and deflected into center field, allowing McDonald to score from second, to give the Terriers the 1-0 lead.
Boston University added a run in the bottom of the third inning, as Henneke hit a solo home run to left-center field, helping her own cause, to put the Terriers ahead 2-0.
Henneke allowed only two hits, while striking out thirteen Seawolves, one shy of her career high. The shutout was her seventh on the season.
Boston University moves on to face Albany, Friday at 11 a.m. Maine is matched up against Stony Brook, Friday at 1:30 p.m, in an elimination game.
The America East Softball Championship utilizes a double-elimination format.
