Senior second baseman Garrett Renner (Bay Shore, N.Y./Bay Shore) of Stony Brook is the America East Player of the Week. Junior Mike Collar (Scarborough, Maine/Scarborough) of Maine is the America East Pitcher of the Week. Pitcher Matt Restivo (Hicksville, N.Y./Hicksville) of Stony Brook is the America East Rookie of the Week. The awards were announced by the America East on April 7.
Renner helped the Seawolves to a perfect 6-0 week and a sweep of conference opponent Albany with an impressive week at the plate. Renner posted a .615 batting average thanks to an 8-for-13 week at the dish and was walked six times. He tallied three doubles on the week and a home run to help push him to a total of four RBI during the sweep. Renner collected 14 total bases during the week and finished with a .750 on-base percentage.
Collar pitched a one-hitter in an eight-inning complete game against Pace. Collar struck out 15 of the 26 batters he faced, including six of the first eight hitters. Collar also gave up no walks, hit by pitches, or wild pitches. That shutout also tied the UMaine record for career shutouts at six, shared by three former Black Bears.
Restivo helped lead the Seawolves to a sweep of conference opponent Albany and a win against St. Peter's Thursday. He finished the week 2-0 and tallied a save in four appearances this week. In his 4.1 innings pitched, Restivo did not allow an earned run. Restivo only walked one batter on the week and struck out four.
