Week Six Softball Honors Announced

Albany junior Andrea Lindgren (LaHabra, Calif./Sonora) is the America East Player of the Week. Boston University sophomore Julie Henneke (Odessa, Fla./Sickles) is the America East Pitcher of the Week. Boston University pitcher/outfielder Erin McDonald (Macon, Ill./Mt. Zion), and Albany shortstop Maegan Larsen (Carteret, N.J./Carteret) share America East Rookie of the Week honors. The awards were announced by America East on April 28.

Lindgren went 7-for-11 last week including four runs scored and five RBI. She hit .636 and had a slugging percentage of .727. In a doubleheader sweep over Stony Brook on Sunday (April 27), she totaled four hits and five RBI to propel Albany to two wins.

Henneke did not allow an earned run in 14 innings pitched (two complete-game wins). She struck out 14 batters, while walking none. Henneke gave up only seven hits and one unearned run in those two games. She had nine strikeouts in a 2-1 win at Binghamton on April 27. She also had five strikeouts and no walks in a one-hit win over Maine in a 2-0 win on April 23.

McDonald went 2-0 with a 1.00 ERA in two complete-game efforts. She scattered eight hits, struck out three, and walked one in a 3-0 win over Maine on April 23, and gave up seven hits and two earned runs in an 8-3 win at Binghamton on April 27. At the plate McDonald went 6-for-16 (.375) with two doubles. Larsen hit .600 last week (6-for-10), scoring four runs and driving home three to help the Great Danes go 4-0 in conference play. She now leads the team with 20 RBI and a .505 slugging percentage.
