Hartford sophomore Liz Borawski (Buffalo, N.Y./Kenmore East) is the America East Player of the Week. Binghamton sophomore Michelle Weeks (Bunnell, Fla./Flager Palm Coast) is the America East Pitcher of the Week. Boston University's Erin McDonald (Macon, Ill./Mt. Zion) is the America East Rookie of the Week. The awards were announced by America East on April 21.
Borawski had a stellar week at the plate as the Hawks went 5-5 in America East play. She had six multi-hit games during the week, including a 4-for-6 performance against Binghamton in Sunday's (April 20) second game and a 3-for-5 effort against Vermont in Wednesday's (April 16) first game. She totalled six extra base hits for the week and drove in a team-high five RBI while scoring a team-high eight runs. Borawski also swiped five bases in five attempts, raising her team-leading steals total to 13 (in 14 attempts).
Weeks tossed three consecutive complete-game shutouts, including two against America East Conference opponents to improve her record to 9-2 on the season. Against Harford this weekend, Weeks made three starts, going 2-0 with 24 strikeouts in 19.2 innings. She threw a complete-game shutout on Saturday (April 19) and got the win in the first game of Sunday's (April 20) doubleheader.
McDonald went 7-for-21 from the plate (.333) with four RBI and four runs scored. She got three wins in three appearances, not giving up an earned run in the process. McDonald combined with Tiffany Finateri to one-hit Hartford in a 6-0 win over the Hawks on April 14. She had a pair of complete-game shutouts at Vermont, giving up just seven hits in a combined 13 innings pitched.
