Week Four Softball Honors Announced

Boston University sophomore Julie Henneke (Odessa, Fla./Sickles) is the America East Player of the Week. Vermont senior Angie Totaro (Roseland, N.J./West Essex) is the America East Pitcher of the Week. Boston University's Josey Mendez (Miami, Fla./Gulliver Prep) is the America East Rookie of the Week. The awards were announced by America East on April 14.

In her only appearance of the week, Henneke pitched a complete-game two-hitter at Maine in a tight 1-0 win. At the plate, she went 2-3 with four RBI in the Terriers' 12-0 win over the Black Bears in game two of the doubleheader. Overall, she was 2-for-6 at the plate.

Totaro earned back-to-back wins to lead Vermont to splits with Binghamton this weekend. In her first game she tossed a two-hitter and struck out a career-high 10 batters, while allowing just one walk to lead UVM to a 7-0 shutout. She led Vermont to a 2-1 victory over the Bearcats on day two, striking out eight batters while yielding just one walk and scattering four hits. She allowed just one extra-base hit in two games. Totaro also helped herself at the plate batting .231 with three hits and two RBI for the weekend.

Mendez went 2-for-3 with two RBI, two runs scored, and her first-career home run in the Terriers' 12-0 win over Maine on Thursday.
