Junior third baseman Dan Schoonmaker (High Falls, N.Y./Roundout) of Albany is the America East Player of the Week. Rookie David Wood (Coram, N.Y./Longwood) of Stony Brook is the America East Pitcher of the Week. Outfielder Kyle Brault (Milton, Vt./Milton) of Vermont is the America East Rookie of the Week. The awards were announced by America East on April 14.

Schoonmaker led Albany to a 2-1 record last week with a .545 average. Against Le Moyne on April 10, he hit his first home run of the season in an 11-5 loss. In a doubleheader against Northeastern on April 13, he went 5-for-7 with four RBI and two runs scored. His home run in the bottom of the sixth gave the Great Danes a 5-2 lead. His slugging percentage for the week was 1.273.

Wood pitched an outstanding game for the Seawolves Sunday as Stony Brook moved to 6-0 in America East play. Wood went the distance, allowing only one run on three hits. He walked only two two batters in the win and struck out nine to help move the Seawolves to 15-8 overall in 2003.

Brault had six RBI and .923 slugging percentage in a four game sweep of Pace. He had the game-winning RBI, with a sacrifice fly in the 8th inning, in the night cap on Sunday to seal UVM’s triple-header sweep. In the opener, his monster 3-run HR in the seventh inning broke open a tight game. Brault belted two homers this weekend and now leads the Cats with four.
