Week Two Softball Honors Announced

Freshman first baseman Liz Alley (Aurora, Colo./Eaglecrest) of Boston University is the America East Player of the Week. Boston University sophomore Julie Henneke (Odessa, Fla./Sickles) is the America East Pitcher of the Week. Infielder Katrina Dunning (Horseheads N.Y./Horseheads) of Albany is the America East Rookie of the Week. The awards were announced by America East on March 31.

Alley batted 6-for-14 (.429) in five games. She hit the first three home runs of her career, including a game-winning blast in the top of the ninth inning in a 3-2 win at Fairfield on March 26. She Had hits in each of the Terriers' five games, running her current hitting streak to six games.

Henneke had a 0.00 ERA in 12.2 innings pitched over two appearances. She pitched a complete-game two-hit shutout in a 2-0 win over Dartmouth on March 27, striking out a season-high 11 batters. Gave up no runs on four hits in 5.2 innings pitched in a 3-1 loss to Harvard on March 29. Overall for the week, had 13 strikeouts and only three walks, lowering her team-leading ERA to 2.09.

Dunning went 7-for-12 last week, going 4-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored in game two of a doubleheader against Hartford on March 28. The freshman infielder swiped two bases on two attempts and had an on-base percentage of .583. Dunning is second on the team in hitting with a .377 average.
