The University of Maine clinched the America East regular season championship, its first since the 1998-99 season, and the top seed in the upcoming Friendship Cottage Cheese America East Women's Basketball Championship, with a 68-63 win over University of Hartford on Saturday, March 1.
University of Vermont, a 75-58 winner over University at Albany, and Boston University, a 71-60 winner over Northeastern University, have also clinched seeds, the No. 2 and No. 3 seeds, respectively.
The No. 4 through No. 8 seeds are still to be determined, but Albany's loss eliminated the Great Danes from postseason contention.
The 2003 Friendship Cottage Cheese America East Women's Basketball Championship will be held March 13-15 at The Chase Family Arena on the Hartford campus.
