Billings, Wilson Headline Men's Basketball Honorees

Binghamton sophomore Nick Billings (Kodiak, Alaska/Kodiak) was named America East Player of the Week while Albany guard Jamar Wilson (Bronx, N.Y./All Hallows/Our Savior New American) was chosen America East Rookie of the Week. Both awards were announced on Monday (February 24).

Billings had double-doubles in each game, scoring 19 points with 10 rebounds in a 76-59 win at Albany Thursday and adding 12 points with a school-record 10 blocks in a 66-54 win over Northeastern Sunday. For the week he averaged 15.5 ppg, 9 rpg, and 7 bpg.

Wilson scored 20 points on 8-of-13 shooting vs. Binghamton Thursday. He added 20 points, six rebounds and five assists vs. Hartford Saturday. Wilson has a 20-game, double-figure scoring streak. Wilson, who has scored 20-plus 12 times this season, is 17 points from breaking Gary Holway’s single-season freshman scoring record. Holway tallied 497 points in 1955-56. Wilson is averaging 27.3 points and shooting 62 percent from the field over his last four contests.
