America East to Crown Champions in Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving

The 13th annual America East Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Championships will be held at the Stanley Wallace Pool at the University of Maine in Orono on Friday, February 14, Saturday, February 15, and Sunday, February 16.

Northeastern University has won three-straight Women's Swimming Diving titles. Boston University is the defending champion for the Men's Swimming and Diving Championship, after claiming its first title since 1994 a year ago.

Binghamton University junior Yun Qu, who was named meet's Most Outstanding Swimmer after setting America East Championship records in both the 100 and 200-yard Butterfly events, is one of eight returning individual champions. University of New Hampshire junior Kristen Nardozzi, who has won the 400-yard Individual Medley the last two years, and Northeastern senior Jill Vance, who has won the last three 200-yard freestyle titles, also return.

Boston University sophomore Victor Paguia, the 2002 Most Outstanding Diver, looks to defend his title, as do fellow Terrier sophomore Chris Collins, who is the defending champion in the 100-yard Backstroke, the 200-yard Backstroke, and the 200-yard Individual Medley. Binghamton junior Chris McGuire, who won the 200-yard Butterfly, the 100-yard Breastroke, and the 400-yard Individual Medley last year, also returns.

Trials begin Friday at 11 a.m. in the 500-yard Freestyle, 200-yard Individual Medley, 50-yard Freestyle, women's Three-Meter Diving, and men's One-Meter Diving. Championship, which begin at 6 p.m., will be decided in those events, as well as the 200-yard Freestyle Relay and the 400-yard Medley Relay.

Saturday's trials begin at 11 a.m. in the 400-yard Individual Medley, 100-yard Butterfly, 200-yard Freestyle, 100-yard Breaststroke, 100-yard Backstroke, and women's One-Meter Diving. Championships in those events, as well as the 200-yard Medley Relay and the 800-yard Freestyle Relay, will begin at 6 p.m.

Sunday's trials begin at 11 a.m. in the 200-yard Backstroke, 100-yard Freestyle, 200-yard Breaststroke, 200-yard Butterfly, 1650-yard Freestyle, and men's Three-Meter Diving. Championships begin at 5:30 p.m. in those events and the 400-yard Freestyle Relay.

Binghamton, Boston University, University of Maine, New Hampshire, Northeastern (women only), Stony Brook University, and University of Vermont will vie for the Swimming and Diving Championships.
