ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Ryan Butt scored 14 points and grabbed eight rebounds and Chaz Carr added 13 points to lead Boston University to a 61-60 upset over Michigan on Tuesday night.
Boston University (6-3) has won six-straight games after starting the season 0-3.
The Terriers stopped a Michigan team that was flying high off of a 70-66 win over UCLA on Saturday and the program's best start since the 1996-97 season.
Down 38-34 at halftime, the Terriers took a 47-44 lead at the 14:00 mark of the second on a layup by Etienne Brower. A three-pointer from the left corner by Michigan's Daniel Horton tied the game at 58 with just more than four minutes remaining.
With Michigan (8-2) failing to score on its resulting trips down the floor, Boston University hit three of four free throws to take the 61-58 lead with under three minutes left. The Wolverines got to within one after Graham Brown scored on a putback with 1:30 left.
With 20 seconds left, Michigan played for the last shot. Bernard Robinson Jr. put up a runner with four seconds remaining, but missed. The Terriers' Kevin Fitzgerald missed the front end of a one-and-one, but with two seconds left, the Wolverines couldn't get a good a shot off on the inbounds pass.
Daniel Horton scored 15 points for Michigan and Lester Abram added 14 points.
