Albany's Eileen Nicole Rodriguez (Ponce Puerto Rico/Colegio Ponceno) and Shelby Goldman (Whitby, Ontario/Anderson Collegiate) have been named America East Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week respectively, while Northeastern's Kristin Ursillo (San Diego, Calif./La Jolla) has garnered Setter of the Week honors.
Rodriguez went over the 30-kill mark twice last week, including 32 against Northeastern and 34 against UMBC, to give her a total of 88 for the three-match period. The 34 kills are two off the school mark. She averaged 6.29 kills per game as Albany went 2-1 and moved a win away from clinching a spot in the America East postseason tournament. The Ponce, Puerto Rico native had 39 digs (14 against Northeastern, 17 versus UMBC) and eight service aces. Over her last five matches, she is averaging 29.5 kills per match.
A freshman outside hitter, Goldman recorded a career-high 29 kills in a five-game loss to Northeastern on 10/28. She followed that up with 14-kill and 22-kill performances against Binghamton and UMBC, respectively. She collected 19 digs in the three matches and averaged 4.64 kills per game while hitting at a .288 clip. She is averaging 19.6 kills in her last five matches.
Ursillo led Northeastern with 141 assists in three matches. She averaged 10.85 assists per game and chipped in with 19 kills, and 39 digs for a 3.0 digs per game average. Ursillo finished the week with a .313 hitting percentage.
