Stony Brook's Tesha Harry (Brooklyn, N.Y./Health & Professional Services) and Albany's Eileen Nicole Rodriguez (Ponce, Puerto Rico/Colegio Ponceno) are America East Co-Players of the Week, while Ashley Meffert (Louisville, Ky./Fern Creek) of Binghamton and Julie Zub (St. Louis, Mo./Ursuline Academy) of Stony Brook have been named Rookie of the Week and Setter of the Week respectively.
Harry was outstanding for Stony Brook as the Seawolves went 1-1 against some of the toughest competition in the America East. On Friday night, she totaled a match-high 21 kills and added five digs and had six blocks as Stony Brook handed the previous unbeaten Northeastern Huskies their first loss. Harry hit .400 in the match. She came right back the next afternoon to rack up a career-high 24 kills and a .649 hitting percentage against Albany. Harry did not commit a single hitting error in the entire match. For the weekend, she totaled 45 kills (4.5 per game) with a .506 hittiing percentage.
Picking up for Ashley DeNeal, who missed the road trip due to illness, Rodriguez totaled 61 kills (6.10 kills per game) over the weekend, as Albany won two five-game matches to extend its winning streak to five. She had a career-high 32 kills in the Great Danes win over Hartford and then followed that up with a 29-kill performance against Stony Brook on 10/25. The sophomore from Puerto Rico also added 31 digs and eight service aces.
Meffert handed out 114 assists (10.36 per game) as Bearcats won two of three matches. Meffert also contributed 28 digs, six blocks and five service aces to go along with 10 kills.
Zub keyed the Stony Brook attack that handed Northeastern its first loss on Friday night. Zub totaled a career and match high 64 assists and seven digs in the 3-2 win over Northeastern. She came back the next afternoon to post 51 assists, 13 digs and four kills in a narrow 3-2 loss to Albany.
