Boston University's Celeste Hubbard (Detroit, Mich./University Liggett) and Albany's Kristina Maze (Glens Falls, N.Y./Glens Falls) have been named America East Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week respectively. The award is Hubbard's first of the season, while it marks Maze's third such honor.
Hubbard led the Terriers offensively this week, scoring four goals and adding an assist as the Terriers went 2-0 with victories over Vermont and No. 19 American. She scored Boston U.’s final goal in a 4-0 win over the Catamounts and then tallied her second hat trick of the season with a three-goal, one-assist performance in a 4-2 win over the Eagles. She has scored at least one goal in the last six games in which the Terriers have scored. She leads the team in goals, assists, points, and shots with 10 goals, seven assists, for 27 points on 60 shots.
Maze (Glens Falls, N.Y./Glens Falls) totaled three goals and three assists for nine points. Maze scored the game-winning goal with 4:20 remaining in the contest as Albany came-from-behind to defeat Colgate, 4-3. Maze topped her performance in Albany’s first conference victory since Oct. 5, 2001, as she collected a career-high seven points. Maze scored two goals and recorded three assists as the Great Danes defeated UMBC 6-5 in overtime. In 10 games this season, Maze is third on the team in goals (7) and points (21), plus first in assists with seven.
