Robinson, Turner, Barea, Wilson Honored in Men's Basketball

Northeastern junior forward Sylbrin Robinson (Miami, Fla./Senior/Florida International U./Odessa JC) and Boston University junior guard Matt Turner (West Haven, Conn./St. Thomas More) share America East Player of the Week honors while Northeastern guard Jose Juan Barea (Mayaguez, Puerto Rico/Miami Christian) and Albany guard Jamar Wilson (Bronx, N.Y./All Hallows./Our Savior New American) share America East Rookie of the Week honors. The awards were announced Monday (January 6).

Robinson had a career-high 21 points on 8-of-10 shooting and eight rebounds as the Huskies defeated Boston College, 72-67 Sunday (January 5). He also scored 13 points and had 14 rebounds in 26 minutes in a 99-69 win over Loyola (Md.) Thursday (January 2). The 6-7 forward also made all five of his field goal attempts and scored 11 points with seven rebounds and three blocks in an 80-61 loss at Providence on December 28. He was 18-of-25 from the floor in the three games.

Turner scored four of his game-high 27 points in overtime as the Terriers defeated Binghamton, 70-65, Saturday (January 4). He also had 18 points in an 84-69 win over Florida State in the Fiesta Bowl Classic on December 28 and added 11 points vs. No. 4 Arizona. The 5-11 guard made 11-of-27 three-pointers in the three games.

Barea scored 19 points, including a driving layup with 11 seconds left, and added five assists while limiting former Big East Player of the Year Troy Bell to 6-of-18 shooting in a 72-67 win over Boston College Sunday (January 5). He added 14 points and eight assists in a 99-69 win over Loyola (Md.) Thursday (January 2).

Wilson averaged 18.9 ppg in five games, including a 29-point effort at Syracuse on December 28, his third 20-plus point game of the season.
