Matthias and Jordan, Meinhardt Garner Week 7 Women's Basketball Honors

Junior center Maren Matthias (Guilford, Conn/Guilford) of New Hampshire and junior forward Sherry Jordan (Stony Mountain, Ga./Clarkston) share Wilson Player of the Week honors, while freshman guard Katie Meinhardt (San Francisco, Calif./St. Igantious Prep) of Boston University is the Rookie of the Week, it was announced by America East on January 20.

Matthias grabbed a career-high 19 rebounds and registered 19 points in a 63-58 win over Northeastern (January 18), UNH’s only game of the week, for her third-straight double-double. She recorded 12 points and 10 rebounds in the second half. Matthias also assisted on Aubrey Danen’s three-pointer that gave UNH a 57-55 lead against the Huskies with 1:40 remaining, one of her three assists on the afternoon.

Jordan was outstanding in the Seawolves’ 74-58 victory over Albany on the road (January 18), scoring 31 points, just one short of her career-high. She grabbed a career-high 17 rebounds and recorded three assists and three steals in 40 minutes of action. Jordan was also impressive in Stony Brook’s setback to Boston U earlier in the week (January 15), leading five players in double figures with 15 points. She also added nine rebounds, five assists and four steals. In that two-game stretch, Jordan averaged 23 points, 13 rebounds, four assists and 3.5 steals.

Meinhardt scored in double figures for the fourth and fifth consecutive games in the Terriers’ wins over Stony Brook and Hartford. In the Terriers’ 88-76 win at Stony Brook (January 15), she had 11 points, five rebounds, and a career-high six assists. In the 70-65 win against Hartford (January 18), Meinhardt tallied 12 points, four rebounds, three assists, and one steal.
