Senior guard Morgan Hall (Hanover, N.H./Hanover) of Vermont was named Wilson Player of the Week, while freshman guards Katie Meinhardt (San Francisco, CA/St. Igantious Prep) of Boston University and Danielle Wexler (Newtown, PA/Notre Dame) of Hartford share Rookie of the Week honors, it was announced by America East on January 13.
Hall became the first player in UVM women’s basketball history to score 30 points in back-to-back games. She netted 33 points, grabbed 11 rebounds, and handed out seven assists in UVM’s loss at Northeastern (January 8) in the conference opener. Hall followed that with a career-high 38 points, 24 in the second half, in a win over Boston University (January 12). She was two points shy of tying UVM’s single-game record for most points (40). She also just missed her second straight double-double with nine rebounds versus Boston University. Hall shot 16-for-23 from the field and 4-for-5 from three-point range versus the Terriers.
Meinhardt had her third-straight double-figure scoring effort against Vermont (January 12), leading the Terriers with 21 points. Prior to Vermont, Meinhardt scored 11 points in the Terriers’ 87-68 win over Albany (January 8) and a career-high 24 points in an 89-69 win over FDU on January 5. Meinhardt had a career-high six rebounds against Albany and sunk a career-high five three-pointers against Vermont.
Wexler notched a career-high for the second straight game with 14 points, five rebounds and three assists in a 78-70 win at Northeastern on Saturday (January 11). Wexler made her second start of the season at Northeastern and became the first Hartford player to score in double-figures in four consecutive games this year. She also scored a team-high 13 points on four of eight shooting in a 58-57 loss to Stony Brook on Wednesday (January 8). Wexler averaged 13.5 points and shot 56 percent (5-9) from three-point range over the Hawks’ first two America East games.
