Boston University sophomore forward Rashad Bell (Queens, N.Y./St. Francis Prep) and Binghamton senior guard Anthony Green (Philadelphia, Pa./International/Gloucester County CC) share America East Player of the Week honors while New Hampshire guard Shejdie Childs (Wynnewood, Pa./Friends Central) and Albany guard Jamar Wilson (Bronx, N.Y./All Hallows./Our Savior New American) share America East Rookie of the Week honors. The honors were announced on January 13.
Bell tied a career-high with 21 points and added eight rebounds in a 66-63 win at Albany Wednesday (January 8). He had 12 points and five rebounds in a 65-62 win over Vermont Saturday (January 11) but made his biggest contribution on the defensive end where he had five blocks and forced America East scoring leader Taylor Coppenrath into 6-of-19 shooting from the floor.
Green poured in 32 points with five assists in a non-conference win over St. Francis (N.Y.) Tuesday (January 7) then added a game-high 20 points, including 15 in the first half, in a 64-59 win over Stony Brook Saturday (January 11).
Childs had 17 points on 8-of-11 shooting as the Wildcats won their first America East game with a 74-64 win over Maine Wednesday (January 8). The 5-10 guard added 12 points and seven assists in a loss at Albany Saturday (January 11).
Wilson had 16 points and a team-high six assists as the Great Danes won their first conference game, 61-58, over New Hampshire Saturday (January 11). The 6-1 guard also had 17 points in a loss to Boston University Wednesday (January 7).
