University of Hartford garnered two of three Baden weekly honors, as sophomore Stephanie Volckers (Hamburg, Germany) and senior Danielle Scoggin (Las Cruces, N.M./Onate) took home Player and Setter of the Week honors, respectively, and New Hampshire freshman Karen Harrington (Windham, N.H./Salem) garnered Rookie of the Week honors on September 30.
Volckers was named the Most Valuable Player at the Quinnipiac Invitational as she recorded 49 kills and 19 digs in two Hawk victories. Volckers posted a season-high 29 kills and added 12 digs in a 3-1 victory over host school Quinnipiac in the first match of the invitational on Friday. The sophomore also tallied 20 kills on 39 attempts to finish with a team-high .462 hitting percentage in a 3-0 victory over Siena in the nightcap. Volckers leads the Hawks in kills (318), kills per game (5.78), digs (173), digs per game (3.15), and ranks second in hitting percentage (.277).
Harrington recorded 12 kills, nine digs and 21 total blocks, including a career-high 10 vs. Brown on Sept. 27. She averaged 2.33 blocks per game in UNH’s three matches last week. Harrington currently leads the Wildcats squad with 52 total blocks for an average of 1.24 per game.
Scoggin had two big games and was named to the All-Tournament team as the Hawks went 2-0 at the Quinnipiac Invitational on September 27. Scoggin handed out 50 assists and recorded nine digs in a 3-1 victory over Quinnipiac in the opening match of the invitational before notching 41 assists and seven digs in a 3-0 win over Siena later in the evening. The senior leads the team in assists (594), assists per game (10.8), and service aces (22). Scoggin ranks fifth in all-time assists at Hartford with 1, 473.
