Albany's Greg Chevalier (Central Valley, N.Y./Monroe-Woodbury) and New Hampshire's Brendan Hankard (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury) shared America East Player of the Week honors while Northeastern's Sergio Saccoccio (Holtsville, N.Y./Sachem) was named America East Rookie of the Week on September 3.
Chevalier had three goals, all in the second half, as Albany rallied from a 1-0 deficit in the 59th minute to win 7-1 at Marist Sunday (September 1). Hankard was named the Most Valuable Player of the Nike Fall Soccer Classic, anchoring the defense and scoring a goal vs. Lafeyette as the Wildcats earned the championship title for the first time since 1997.
Saccoccio made seven saves in a 1-1 draw with No. 14 Fairleigh Dickinson Friday (August 30) in his collegiate debut. He followed that with a six-save performance in his first collegiate shutout, a 2-0 win over Quinnipiac Sunday (September 1).
